sleep re-training
For the past month and a half we have woken up every single morning with all four in the bed, I actually love sleeping with my kids, well more the idea of it, I had a romantic idea of sleeping cuddling both my kids and waking up and playing in the bed, any mom knows that's not usually how it works. My eldest slept with me till she was 11 months, and the only reason why I sleep trained her was because I was pregnant and she would wake up every 40 min at night (yes, I timed it) crying and crawling all over me and she wasn't sleeping well. I couldn't bring myself to just leave her crying in her room so someone told me about the method where you go in every few minutes and don't take them out of the crib or pick them up but you pat them and talk to them so they know you are there, you only stay for one minute and start off going in every 2 minutes, then 5 then 7 etc., it worked so well, she cried for like 45 minutes the first night ( I made sure she was extremely tired) and 15 minutes the second night and then usually slept through the night, I give all the credit to my husband because he is the one that did it with me crying and furious in the next room, after it was done I was so thankful though. I did not have the same luck with my second, I have sleep trained her a few times and I can count on my fingers the nights she has slept through the night, I don't know if it is in fact her teeth but it seems that she is constantly teething and apparently she is very sensitive to pain, she only has 8 teeth but calculate a month per tooth.
To make a long story short we moved around a lot in the past months and have now moved into our new house about a month and half ago, and my eldest daughter (Isabella) decided she was also going to come to our bed at night, at first I loved it to be honest, I like having all my kids close to me, my youngest (Camilla) now goes to sleep in her own bed ( a real win for me) but at like 1:00am starts crying and groaning and will not stop fussing, so I figured either I have to hear her fussing and groaning in her bed for hours or bring her to my bed, I'm so tired I opt for the second one, she usually calms down once she is there at least for a few hours. I've taken her to the doctor quite a few times to find out what is wrong with her, but they can't seem to find anything, I guess its her personality.
I thought that Isabella was just a phase but apparently its every single night at like 11-12, she comes and tells me she wants to sleep with me, I tried taking her back to her bed but ended up playing musical beds all night so finally I just left her in the bed-till last night. Isabella has a fascination for my hair and will only go to sleep if she can run her fingers through my hair (ouch) so she comes and I hear "hair, hair" and she will pull my hair the entire night in her sleep, and she moves every 9 seconds ( I also timed it) so I'm sandwiched between her pulling my hair on one side and Cami sleeping diagonally between my husband and I and she's kicking me, what ends up happening is I have a cat naps most of the night. After the other night Isabella was literally lying on my face and I can't move because I don't want to wake up Cami, we decided enough is enough, after talking to Isabella all day and letting her know that it is Mommy and Daddy's bed not for everyone as she claims we are going to take her back to her bed at night and hopefully after start working with Cami.
Last night went pretty good as in Isabella did not cry like I thought she would, but she did drink about a cup of tea plus almond milk before bed, so she woke up soaked and I had to change her and all her sheets etc, she only came about 3 times and was pretty okay when I brought her back to her bed, so I think it was a success, lets see how it goes tonight one thing for sure I'll be giving her most of her liquids before 6:00pm.
